In CES 2008, Swans released the home theater system X3HT. It was certified by THX, a set of quality assurance standards for high fidelity audio/visual reproduction.
THX certified theater systems hold rigorous standards. System should have smooth response within standard frequency range, output level should be sufficiently high to cover wide listening area horizontally. While giving high level output, there should be no noticeable distortion or mechanical thermal damage. Drivers must be shielded to ensure zero magnetic interference to television. Sound reproduction must be consistent through all speakers, no sudden change for sound image among speakers is expected. Surround speaker radiation should satisfy certain requirements. More importantly, there should be no significant listening difference when any THX certified products are interchanged.
X3HT is a standard 5.2 channel system, consisting three front speakers, two active subwoofers and two surround speakers. The three front speakers are the same, each front speaker include two 6.5-inch bass drivers, two 3-inch mid drivers and one 1.1-inch dome driver, making up a D’Appolito configuration. Subwoofer X3S uses a 15-inch driver and a 260W power amplifier, bass is powerful and you may choose up to three subwoofers. Front speakers can be placed on subwoofers to decrease interchangeable influences. Each surround speaker is made of a 6.5-inch woofer and two 1.1-inch dome tweeter. Each speaker is treated with natural wood veneer and piano lacquer effect. The system is best for wide range home listening environments.
